Job Description
This really is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified HSA with experience in the marine/offshore/renewables/energy industry being essential. The role is based in London with occasional travel across the UK.
The principal objectives of the position:
· To develop strong relationships with the organisations external contacts/stakeholders to facilitate the promotion of Health and Safety awareness and drive best practice.
· To assist in the monitoring and review of Health and Safety performance across marine projects (including Round 3, wave and tidal and offshore transmission).
Key tasks:
· To develop effective relationships with interested parties of marine renewable energy projects, including Round 3 zone partners, to facilitate the promotion of Health and Safety awareness and best practice.
· To challenge accepted views of Health and Safety within the industry in regards to design and technology, installation and operations and maintenance methodologies.
· To assist managers in the Marine department in the monitoring of Health and Safety performance across marine projects and report outcomes of performance.
· Delivery of the strategic health and safety workstreams as directed by the Health and Safety Manager.
· To advise decision makers in the development of ‘best practice’ and processes of continued improvement. For example, guiding Round 3 developers towards application of innovation to their set processes/procedures.
· Seek to apply a consistent approach to health and safety across marine projects but remaining mindful of specific environmental concerns e.g. water depth, marine traffic etc. A flexible approach is therefore important.
· To identify (through the review of failure events and other learning opportunities) areas of control which require further development and subsequently work with stakeholders to identify future preventative actions.
· To assist the Health and Safety Manager to maintain The Crown Estate’s compliance position.
· To demonstrate and promote awareness of a practical application of health and safety amongst colleagues.
· To foster and maintain relationships with interested parties in the renewables sector.
Public Relations
To positively represent the Organisation at external meetings and to present a positive attitude when dealing with members of the public.

Person Specification
· Good verbal and written communication skills.
· An aptitude to build effective relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
· Strong time management skills with a strong focus on delivery.
· Comfortable in a role which requires driving change.
· A confident and flexible approach when challenging set procedures etc.
· Given the nature of the Round 3 programme and other renewable energy projects a willingness to travel occasionally is essential.
Qualifications & Experience
· Extensive experience in health, safety and environmental management, overseeing all health and safety activities.
· NEBOSH Diploma qualification or part-qualification or equivalent experience.
· Experience in the marine/offshore/renewables/energy industry is essential.
· Experience gained within a commercial or industrial environment, preferably in major infrastructure projects, is useful though not essential.
· Demonstrable experience of advising on the development, implementation and maintenance of a health and safety management system including strategy, policy and programmes in a changing environment.
· Detailed knowledge of current UK health and safety legislation, including CDM and occupational health and safety.
· Experience in management systems auditing and risk management.
· An awareness of HSE investigations and procedures in relation to enforcement (improvement notices and prohibition orders).
· Experience of delivering elements of projects and programmes of change.
