Walney Island offshore wind farm building to begin

Work will start next year on a wind farm to be built off Walney Island in Barrow.
The £1.6bn project will see 108 turbines operational within three years, doubling the number of turbines in that area of the Irish Sea.
The build, named West of Duddon Sands, will be amongst the largest offshore wind farms in the world.
It is claimed the site will produce the equivalent of the annual electricity needs of 300,000 households.
Locals have expressed concern about the impact the new wind farm will have on the view from Walney Island.
